Power Rankings For Norway’s Tippeligaen After Round 4

In Norwegian Tippeligaen on April 18, 2011 at 11:18 pm

Only four games gone and the table looks upside down.

It’s worth remembering that there’s nearly 90% of the season left – but where Rosenborg end up is anyone’s guess.

1. Strømsgodset IF

Have had the advantage of having three home games in the first four matches, but they’ve won all of them. Could still be polarised between wins and losses (1-5 defeat at Start could be evidence of that), but it’s a good start for the team from Drammen who haven’t wont the title since 1970.

2. Start

Good start defensively with two clean sheets; two big home wins suggest more to come at the Sør Arena.

3. Brann

4. Tromsø IL

Ominous start from the team that finished third last season: unbeaten with three clean sheets. Have never won the title, but there’s always a first time.

5. Stabæk

6. Molde

7. Lillestrøm

There’ll always be goals at Lillestrøm’s Åråsen stadium – five in the only one so far this season, 3.27  per game last season. Anthony Ujah will score a lot of them.

8. Vålerenga

Good start defensively – the only club not to be involved in a game with over 3.5 goals yet.

9. Viking

Doesn’t look as if they’ll score goals, which is odd considering their record last season and could be worth monitoring

10. Aalesund

11. Haugesund

12. Odd Grenland

13. Rosenborg

Only other team without a win is Sogndal. Changes in playing staff and management have had an impact, but this is a very dramatic, sudden and unexpected decline.

Other things to watch out for: only one goalless draw in 32 games (3%), 3.34 goals per game.
